Vasiliki Papadopoulou is an Edinburgh based Jewellery designer-maker, graduating with BA (Hons) in Jewellery & Silversmithing from Edinburgh Collage of Art. Working as a jeweller, she uses mixed media such as silver, dyed monofilament line and a selection of beads. Her inspiration comes from the world of microscopy and science.

Vasiliki’s curiosity for repetition in nature began in her Art & Design Foundation Degree at University for the Creative Arts when she discovered Fractal Geometry by Benoit Mandelbrot and studied his contribution to the world of Mathematics. The jewellery project she created inspired by fractal patterns was the one that got her in ECA and gave her the chance to exprore this relation of art and science even further.

Even though her work is mainly jewellery pieces, she was chosen to be featured in the annual magazine “Keepers of the Quaich” for her silversmithing piece inspired by the scottish thistle. In addition, her work has been exhibited in the  University of Applied Arts in Vienna as part of the PICS collaboration project.
